Designing a Better Chicago Grant Opportunity with the Design Museum of Chicago
Letters Beyond Form | In The News
Letters Beyond Form: Chicago Types explores typography, the shape and design of letters, within Chicago's diverse neighborhoods to investigate design legacies and their contemporary echos. The exhibition highlights alternative modernisms by considering how revolutionary movements and concepts like love and safety shape the way communities spread and design information for one another.
The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), NeoCon, Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, and the Design Museum of Chicago are thrilled to announce the sixth year of Designing a Better Chicago. This program elevates the visibility of Chicago’s design legacy, assets, talent and community, creates healthy urban environments, and supports civic good through design.
The Chicago Architecture Center (CAC) is proud to announce the third annual Chicago iteration of Architecture & Design Film Festival, set to take place from January 29 to February 2, 2025. Co-curated by the CAC, this year’s ADFF: CHICAGO schedule will feature a dynamic lineup of 13 feature-length films, all focused on architects and designers who have shaped the cities and spaces in which we live. Screenings will be hosted at the Chicago Cultural Center and the Gene Siskel Film Center.
In addition to film screenings, the CAC will host programming that features conversations with filmmakers and major players in Chicago’s architecture scene, providing opportunities for deeper engagement with the topics explored in the films.
Design Museum of Chicago members can use code ADFF25FRIEND to receive an exclusive discount on tickets.
Discounts not applicable for the opening event. Find the full schedule of screenings and events at architecture.org/filmfest.
Cozy Moments
On Display Now through February
Cozy Moments by Red Elephant captures the essence of warmth and nostalgia, inspired by the living room crafted by my grandmother. Each corner of that space reflected her unique creativity, where nostalgia intertwined with thoughtful design. The carefully chosen pieces invited conversation and connection, embodying a spirit of togetherness.
